Oregon’s State Board
of Higher Education adopted graduation requirements that stress rigor and relevance. Each high school graduate will 1) develop
an education plan based on personal and career interests, 2) participate in Career Related Learning Experiences, 3) demonstrate
Career Related Learning Standards and 4) demonstrate Extended Application through a collection of evidence.
Recently adopted as a graduation requirement are Essential Skills. These are foundational skills
that help students acquire knowledge and skills in academic and career and technical studies and apply what they learn in
practical situations. These requirements are designed to better prepare each student for success after high school whether
they choose to continue their education or training, or enter the workforce.
HOSA
provides many opportunities for students to meet these graduation requirements through academic experiences, career
related learning opportunities, leadership opportunities and participation at regional, state and national conferences.
